This linocut by artist Kit Boyd includes a lovely reference to Edward Bawden, one of several prominent 1920s artists who produced artwork for London Transport and whose Kew Gardens poster featured a duck.
Spot the planets circling the duck, a reference to the solar system model found in and around the village. Spitfire aircraft often fly overhead, and the glider is a reference to pioneer aviator Percy Pilcher, who, with his sister Ella, designed and tested gliders nearby in the 1890s. The remains of the Archbishop’s Palace of Otford (once the size of Hampton Court) rise in the distance together with the 12th Century tower of St Barts Church.
